Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

Keep more money in your wallet

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) allow you to use before-tax dollars to pay for certain healthcare and dependent day care expenses. Siemens Healthineers offers two separate accounts:

  • Healthcare FSA, which you can use to pay for eligible healthcare expenses.
  • Dependent Day Care FSA, which you can use to pay for eligible dependent day care expenses for children under age 13, parents, grandparents or a disabled spouse.

    Keep in mind

    • If you’re enrolled in the Health Savings Medical Plan, you can’t contribute to a regular Healthcare FSA, but you can use a Limited-Use FSA to help cover dental and vision costs.
    • If you’re enrolled in the Health Reimbursement Copay Advantage Plan, use your HRA first for eligible medical costs like your copay, deductible, and coinsurance. Once your HRA is exhausted, you can use your Healthcare FSA for the remaining medical expenses. You can also use your FSA anytime for things the HRA doesn’t cover—like prescriptions, dental costs, and vision costs.

    How the FSAs work

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) allow you to use before-tax dollars for certain healthcare and dependent day care expenses. You get the benefit of lowering your taxable income when you contribute to these accounts. Siemens Healthineers offers two separate accounts.

    Healthcare FSA (HCFSA)

You can use the Healthcare FSA to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. You can contribute between $120 and $3,400 in 2026. There are two types of Healthcare FSAs:

    • Healthcare FSA, which is available to participants in the Health Reimbursement, Cigna International, Kaiser, and HMSA Medical Plan options or if you elect no coverage.
    • Limited-Use Healthcare FSA, which is available to participants in the Health Savings Medical Plan. You can be reimbursed for eligible dental and vision expenses not covered by the plan. Medical, prescription drug, and eligible over-the-counter medication expenses can be paid with money in your Health Savings Account (HSA).

    Healthcare FSA eligible expenses include:

    • Medical and dental plan deductibles, coinsurance and copayments
    • Vision care expenses
    • Expenses over Reasonable and Customary or Maximum Allowed Amounts that are not reimbursed by medical or dental insurance
    • Prescription drug expenses and eligible over-the-counter medications

    Dependent Day Care FSA

You can use the Dependent Day Care FSA to pay for eligible dependent day care expenses. An eligible dependent includes children up to the age of 13, parents, grandparents, or a disabled spouse. You can contribute up to $7,500 ($3,750 if you are married and file separate tax returns). Highly compensated employees (HCE) may be limited to a maximum contribution and will be notified accordingly.

    Eligible expenses include:

    • Fees for day care services for your eligible children up to age 13, parents, grandparents, or a disabled spouse, provided by individuals or a day care center inside or outside your home
    • Costs for a housekeeper if a portion of the services provided are for dependent day care
    • Costs for pre-school or summer day camp
