Commuter Benefits Program

Save on public transit or parking

Manage your commuting costs easily with online access and flexible payment options.

How it works:

Choose how much to contribute: up to $340/month before tax for transit, vanpools, and parking (IRS limits apply). You can also contribute up to $500/month after tax.

Contributions are deducted from your last paycheck each month. You can start, stop, or change your contributions anytime—just make your change prior to the first Thursday of the month for it to take effect the next month.

Know what commuting expenses are eligible and not eligible

Before you elect to contribute to the Commuter Benefits Program, be sure what expenses are considered eligible.

Eligible commuter expenses

  • Bus, light rail, regional rail, streetcar, trolley, subway or ferry
  • Vanpool
  • Parking at or near work
  • Parking at or near public transportation for your commute

Ineligible commuter expenses

  • Parking costs that are not work-related
  • Mileage and tolls
  • Taxis and limousines
  • Parking at an airport for air travel

Ways to pay commuting expenses

Commuter card

Buy transit passes, parking passes, and vouchers with the Commuter Card. The Commuter Card works like a debit card at transit agency ticket-vending machines and ticket windows. Funds from each month that you make a contribution are available through your card on the 20th of the month before the month in which you will use the Commuter Card (e.g., funds for the month of July will be available on June 20).

Home pass delivery

You can have your monthly passes or tickets for public transportation automatically delivered to your home each month.

Pay my parking

HealthEquity will pay your parking provider directly on your behalf in time for the start of each order month. This works well if you pay for a monthly parking space or permit. When your employment with Siemens Healthineers ends, you will no longer be able to use the funds on your parking card, per IRS rules.

Pay me back

Get reimbursed for eligible commuting expenses you pay out of pocket. File an electronic claim or paper claim to be reimbursed. Please note: An electronic claim does not require a receipt, so if you use daily parking or parking meters, this may be an option for you. When your employment with Siemens Healthineers ends, paper claims can be submitted up to 180 days after the expense was incurred for the period that you worked at Siemens Healthineers.
